Do you buy single-use plastic water bottles?

Do you buy single-use plastic water bottles? If so, you’re not the only one who needs today’s challenge. A staggering 10 million disposable plastic water bottles are bought every day in the UK!

Grabbing a new water bottle every day can be a hard habit to let go of, but doing so is not only better for the environment, but also your wallet.

While a single-use bottle can feel cheaper in the moment, a refillable bottle will save you money in the long run.

Buying just one or two disposable bottles of water a week adds up to around £49 a year. On the other hand, we’ve found reusable (BPA-free) bottles starting at £2, and the cheapest reusable bottle recommended by Which.co.uk was £8

In Bristol, we have on-street recycling bins along the harbourside for plastic bottles, but not everywhere has this facility.

If they’re not recycled or disposed of properly, plastic water bottles take centuries to decompose.

Much like single-use water bottles, disposable coffee cups are another culprit in a throwaway culture.

Your challenge is to find yourself a reusable coffee cup!

Many cafés now offer discounts if you bring your own cup, which means more savings for you. Plus, these cups often provide better insulation, keeping your drink hotter for longer.
